Volunteering, donations and more!
Latest news from MCAS! We are getting a ton of questions about the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Hopefully we will be able to answer your questions here.
First off, volunteer orientation will be help at 10am at the Fairgrounds at 9333 Airport Rd. in Conroe, TX. If you plan to try and stay to volunteer please wear long pants and close-toed shoes. For future reference, Macheal Ita is the volunteer coordinator and can be reached at email@example.com.
Secondly, if you find a dog or cat please bring them to the Fairgrounds pop-up shelter. This is our hub for lost and found animals resulting from the hurricane. If you are looking for your pet please visit http://petharbor.com/harvey.html. All pets listed on this link have been found after the storm. We already have had wonderful reunions at the pop-up and would love for each and every animal that has been found to go home!
Thirdly, we are indeed open for adoptions and volunteering at our 242 location. The clinic is also operating per their usual schedule. While we have been fortunate to have had several rescues pull animals this week more still are in need of homes.
Additionally, our need for fosters is ongoing. Just today a mama cat with kittens was brought in and needed a foster. Please visit MCAS Pets In Need for updates on cats and dogs in need of foster homes or rescue. Courtney Washington is the foster coordinator and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Rescue inquiries can contact Catherine Doyle at email@example.com.
Finally, the pop-up location is sending donations to other affected jurisdictions. A truck just left with supplies for Beaumont. Donations are still greatly welcomed and we will be evaluating what is needed daily. Right now we can still use the following:
-Wire crates (large and extra large)
-Wet cat food
-Stainless steel bowls
Now the last one is a big one! These huge Porta Coolers are a couple thousand dollars at least – but we will definitely need several to keep the animals cool as the temperatures rise. These are perhaps our greatest need right now. So if you are in a position to donate one please do, but if not, every donation counts and is truly appreciated! Please consider donating to MCAS at www.paypal.me/mcastx.
That is all for now! Be sure to check out The MCAS Show tomorrow at 11:30am for even more updates!
